I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of British Columbia. Before joining the faculty at UBC, I held postdoctoral positions at UBC and the University of St Andrews. 

My research is in fractal geometry and its connections with harmonic analysis and geometric measure theory, with occasional excursions into number theory, ergodic theory, and probability. See Publications for papers and preprints. 

Beyond mathematics 

Outside mathematics, I enjoy excellent coffee (although I still haven’t worked up the courage to try Kopi Luwak), good comedies, architecture and interior design, medicine and biology, hiking, animals, and natural landscapes. I have a particular affection for The Little Prince and unusual vehicles; I currently own a recumbent trike.
